  • A Keurig coffee maker

Becoming a member of ORK allows us to continue the important work of testing water quality, sharing stories from the watershed, fighting legal battles, providing recreational guidance, and coordinating cleanup efforts in our 5,500 square-mile territory across 22 Georgia counties.

Meet our newest interns!

Meet Gabby and Garrett! They are interns from Savannah State University and are currently earning their marine sciences degrees. They will be working with us on Protect The Vernon litter analysis under a grant from National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

Cleanup with Asbury Memorial

Members of Asbury Memorial Church created a flotilla of litter pickers to clean up where the Harmon Canal enters the Vernon River. Forty percent of stormwater from the City of Savannah drains to the Vernon. Despite pulling out more than 300 pounds of trash, there is much to be done.

Types of crayfish in ORK's basin

With so much aquatic diversity in the basin, what you might see in the upper part of the basin can be completely different from what you might see near the coast. That’s because, even though the river is well connected from top to bottom, the habitats found in the upper part of the basin are completely different from the coastal habitats.

Upcoming Events

There are many ways you can help the Ogeechee Riverkeeper protect, preserve and improve the waterways within our basin.
