Ogeechee Riverkeeper presents Riverfest at the Mill on the banks of the Ogeechee River, on the Warren and Hancock County line, on Saturday, October 1. Join us for outdoor events and activities on the grounds of the Ogeechee River Mill, including:

Live music, cornhole, paddling (bring your own equipment), fishing (bring your own equipment), rubber duck race, archery, tractor display, mule-drawn wagon rides, raffle and more!

Admission is FREE for Ogeechee Riverkeeper members and children 12 and under. Admission is $10 per person for all others. Tickets will only be sold at the door.

All proceeds from the event will support Ogeechee Riverkeeper’s efforts to protect, preserve, and improve water quality in our basin.

Food, drinks, and snacks from Mill Rock Missionary Baptist will be available for purchase throughout the day. A limited number of vendors will also be on site.

All sales will be CASH ONLY. There is no reliable GPS, internet, or cellular service in this area. The event is rain or shine.

Members Only: Botany & Brews

Join ORK and Horticulture Manager, Joshua Jones, for a plant walk through the Botanic Garden at Georgia Southern. On September 25, we'll explore the 11 acres of native and heritage plants, including over 20 of the state’s protected species. The walk will be followed with an optional get-together at Eagle Creek Brewery.

Litter booms

Our traps are working! So far, a total of 1293.18 lbs of trash has been collected from the creeks and canals leading to the Vernon. Styrofoam is the most common litter collected in litter booms, with an average of 292 pieces per clean up. Learn how you can help us Protect The Vernon.

Flora: Fothergilla gardenii

Witch-alder is a small shrub in the witch-hazel family. It is found in the Ogeechee watershed but it is threatened as a species. Wild populations are rare, with just four having been found in the past 20 years. The genus name of the shrub is in honor of John Fothergill (1712-1780), a British doctor and botanist.

Corporate sponsorships

Our Oyster Roast is back this November, and we want you to be a corporate sponsor! Did you know, sponsors receive benefits for an entire year, not just one event? View our packages online, or ask a member of staff how your company can support clean water!

Make-A-Will Month

FreeWill.com is an online will-writing tool that will help you create a legal, valid will in under 20 minutes. This is a free, easy way to protect the people, communities, and organizations you love. While you’re writing your will, you’ll also have the opportunity to join the amazing people who have helped Ogeechee Riverkeeper by including legacy gifts in their wills.

Fall Volunteer Opportunities

Ogeechee Riverkeeper has a number of cleanups and volunteer events lined up this fall. Get involved, meet new friends, and help the watershed. Don't see something in your area? Contact our outreach coordinator to work with us to set something up.
